Storm Chasing BUST April 27th

I went storm chasing yesterday. Drove all the way up to Independence KS setup near the Dry line and waited unfortunately didn't end up with anything worth while to chase.  


I manged to get some good cloud photos and some other misc shots. I will post some of the photos I took shortly


 

MY CANON 5D MARK III

Well I got my Canon 5D Mark III yesterday. I had this camera pre ordered on Amazon.com and as of today they still haven't updated there stock information. I don't believe the camera can be sold until Friday the 23rd I was able to find a store locally in Oklahoma that has one in stock and I am pretty sure they sold it to me by mistake not knowing the camera had a street date.

 I am upgrading from the Canon T3i to the 5D mark III. This camera is very fast, it's 23 mega pixel my t3i was only 18 mega pixel , not much of a jump but the image quality is much better.  The cameras focusing system is very nice.

I will post more information about the 5D mark III once I have had a chance to use it more.

Good news the 5D Mark III battery grip is now listed at $349.99. For some reason Canon had retailers thinking the grip was $499.99.   I will be getting this grip a few weeks after I get the 5D mark III

5D Mark III

I will be doing a full review on the 5D Mark III hopefully this month. I pre ordered this wonderful camera right after Amazon put up the pre order option. I am very excited. This will be my first pro camera. I will be upgrading from the Canon T3i/600D. The Canon T3i is a great started camera, My favorite feature is the swivel screen. I will be keeping my T3i as a backup camera and a second shooter.

If your on a budget I highly recommend the Canon T3i. 



The Canon 5D Mark III will be releasing at the end of March however it could be delayed. You can pre order this bad boy for $3,500,00

I am excited about the Canon 5D Mark III. I started off shooting with the canon t3i which is a great started camera, Now I am ready to go pro.

Rumor has it tonight will be announcement of the Canon 5D mark III. It's said to have a price tag of $3,500.00 hopefully this is just a base start price and the camera will be under 3K.  Below are some images and the specs.

Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L lens Repaired

 I have only owned this lens for 6 months and I have not been impressed with it since day one so I sent my Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L lens in to have it checked out. Sure enough there was a issue with my lens, Canon had to replace 3 collars and a rubber ring, I haven't had much time to play around with the lens since I got it back but from the few tests I have done I am excited, I feel like I may have a good copy now

If you own this lens and your not happy with it I suggest you send it off to the Canon repair center. The turn around time is about 8 days total. This lens seems to have a lot of issues from what others have told me and from what I have experienced even brand new out of the box like mine you may have a bad copy. 

Manfrotto 682B Self Standing Monopod Review

I have had the Manfrotto 682B for about a month now. This mono pod is well built and it has a self standing option simply unscrew the bottom and pull out the legs and re screw. I found mixed reviews on this product  and most reviews where people talking about the price and just wanted something to complain about. I love this mono pod, I use this mono pod with the manfrotto 496rc2 ball head , will leave that ball head for another review.  The mono pod will hold my Canon t3i and my 70-200mm IS II L lens with NO problem even if it's extend a bit. With it extended mid way I wouldn't recommend leaving the mono pod left alone.  This product is defiantly worth a buy I would recommend getting a ball head with quick release that can handle your gear.

The mono pod will not replace your tri pod but when your on the go and need something where you normally can't take a tri pod this is a awesome tool.

Photography Backgrounds

I recently picked up a photography background from ebay, I was a bit worried about buying a photography background off of ebay specially since it was coming from China.  I am glad I took the gamble. The background is made out of vinyl and it's pretty thick,  It's a solid sheet so there's no holes to hang it. I am pretty sure the craft store as some metal hole punch that you can get to hang it up without risking tearing the backdrop.  The quality of the picture is not bad it's a bit fuzzy up close but take a few steps back and it looks awesome.  I picked the backdrop up for $34.99 + $9.00 shipping. There's over 60 different backdrops to pick from.

Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II Announced

I recently just purchased the Canon 24-70 2.8L. I have mixed feelings about this lens I find it to be a good lens for the most part and some times just not that sharp,  I got excited about the announcement of the version II lens until I saw the price tag. $2,299.00 and NO IS. Not sure what Canon was thinking but I bet the lens will drop in time. I still can't wait to see some image samples and see some product reviews on this lens.
